Scrum Master, 6 month contract – Christchurch CBD

We are assisting our national client increase their Scrum processes in their Christchurch Team. You will be a servant leader who enables the Business Squad to self-organise, self-manage, and deliver via effective Agile practices. You support and facilitate the squad to coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring the work and progress of the squads is transparent and understood.
This government organisation plays a key role is to ensure New Zealanders have accurate information, confidence in their property rights and that Crown property is well managed for future generations.
You will support the squad and wider programme in the adoption of agile frameworks and identify gaps and coaching opportunities while maintaining a continuous improvement approach of the teamwork and delivery to improve throughput and outcomes.

  • Fostering an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous improvement, and value to the customer
  • Coaching and educating the squad and others in the program around Agile ways of working, practices and principles.
  • Supporting the product owner to ensure the product backlog is in good shape and ready for build
  • Applying your knowledge of Scrum, Kanban and SAFe.
  • Holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work and help them to identify, mitigate and resolve issues/risks.
  • Facilitating the scrum process as well as meetings and workshops (e.g. Retros, Planning, Refining). As well as organising and facilitating increment and sprint planning.
  • Maintaining a growth mindset – has the ability to work with the tools that Agile offers enabling the team to grow and continually improve.
  • Modelling the agile mindset, values, principles, and practices, and leading the change to a new way of working.
  • Coordinating inter-team cooperation and helps the team operate well on the release train.
  • Supporting the team to focus on Sprint objectives in the context of the increment and program vision.
  • Assisting with progress reports, any required project documentation/compliance and ensure high visibility communication of progress.
  • Partnering with other Scrum Masters and the Release Train Engineer to build a community of practice and ensure alignment of timing and prioritisation across the programme.
