ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to ensure strategic goals are optimised by evolving effective Enterprise Data Management using enterprise data standards for data warehousing, data lake, data management and other corporate databases. The Enterprise Data Architect works across the business, and closely with the Digital team, building the direction and vision for strategic data architecture that supports business outcomes.
•Defining and maintaining an enterprise data architecture including a corporate view of data assets with high level data models, data dictionary, policies and standards
•Strive to simplify and standardise the data architecture, removing overlaps, inconsistencies and siloes
•Defining and maintaining an ‘as is’ data architecture; including data models, business data definitions and other metadata
•Facilitating integrated and managed metadata that enables a broad range of capabilities from business self-service to code reuse
•Act as a data steward to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, ensuring all components are properly integrated and implemented with accountability for ongoing stewardship
•Act as an advocate for the adoption and use of the enterprise data models, and act as a mentor to others
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
•At least 5 or more years’ experience as a data architect
•At least 10 or more years’ experience working with large scale data platforms•Experience (avoid ‘years’)
•Working experience with both on-premises, public cloud and SAS hosted data management platforms and data architecture including but not limited to cloud service providers such as AWS or Azure
•Knowledge and understanding of both batch and fast-moving data paradigms
•Good knowledge of one or more data warehousing applications that may include Oracle, PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL and Azure Data Platform technologies
•Experience with data manipulation and scripting languages such as SQL, Python and Java
•Knowledge of Machine Learning, data mining and AI principles applied to data patterns recognition resolving data driven problems
•Knowledge and experience working with NoSQL data management platforms such as MongoDB, Hadoop, Cassandra, MapReduce etc
•Good working experience in establishing MDM (Master Data Management) patterns across the Enterprise data estate
